Bab el-Mandeb Watch (beta). The southern chokepoint of the Suez route, polled every 30 minutes with the Hormuz data. Ships are classified into the Red Sea side (from the strait up to the Suez Canal and Port Said, Gulf of Aqaba included), the strait box around Perim island, and the Gulf of Aden side (Djibouti, the Gulf of Aden, the Arabian Sea to the Oman coast at 60°E and the Somali coast down to 5°N). A ship seen on one side and then the other counts as one crossing: northbound (Gulf of Aden → Red Sea, toward Suez) or southbound (Red Sea → Gulf of Aden). Positions are kept 30 days; counting started 2026-09-11.
